Contrary
to the emphasis on only the first three levels for evolution and
“first-half” Darwinian theory generally prevailing throughout
the 20th century, useful books for The Great Adventure explore all
15 levels that Darwin’s completed theory and both our ancient
and modern scientific heritage reveal.
In other
words, a century of fixation mainly on a biological definition has
radically diminished our understanding of the multilevel, multiperspectival,
and multicausal world – or fully rounded sense – of
evolution and evolutionary processes. This lack, in turn, has radically
diminished our capacity for evolutionary action – or knowing
how to more effectively better ourselves and more surely gain the
better world.
Thus, an
urgent task for all of us dependent on science for bettering our
world – which by now means practically all of us now living
on this earth – is to gain the kind of understanding the books
in this Library and Book Store for The Great Adventure offer . .
. and how to put this very old and very new knowledge to use.

Some Useful Books for Exploring
the 15 Levels of Evolution
Not all of the following books deal with evolution
per se. Nor is this by any means more than a glimpse of the good
books out there. But it’s a sampling that can be useful to
students, teachers, and everyone else interested in the levels of
evolution and ACTION to gain the better
future and the better world.
In
the library and book store sections that follow this opening sampler,
you’ll find specific guidance to the most useful books on
Darwin and evolution. How to build and teach the better theory and
write and teach the better story. The controversies that sucked
up too much of our time, money, and energy during the 20th century.
And more on ACTION to gain the better
future.
